Director of Innovation & Technology
Kate Wolfe Maxlow has worked at Hampton City Schools (HCS) since 2014, first as the Professional Learning Coordinator and most recently as the Director of Innovation and Professional Learning. Before working at HCS, she was a teacher, an instructional coach, and an educational consultant focusing on assessments and teacher evaluation. Kate has so far had two books published: 20 Formative Assessment Strategies That Work (Routledge, 2018) and Look, Listen, Learn, LEAD (IAP, 2020). Her forthcoming book--Creating, Using, and Grading Virtual Assessments--will be published later this year by Routledge. She is also the winner of the ASCD 2019 Leadership Award.

Kim Weaver is originally from Hampton and went from being a student to becoming a teacher, all at HCS! She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in History and got her teaching certificate at Christopher Newport University. Kim started out with 11 years in elementary school teaching 3rd grade. She then moved to an ITRT position and is currently in that position as a DLS. She loves learning about the different tools that will help students succeed. She is a mother of 15-year-old twins, Hailey and Zachary, and is learning to navigate the teenage years!
